AI-Assisted CAD & 3D Prototyping
Component Design • Tolerance Tuning • Rapid Iteration
Role: Designer & prototyper • Focus: Practical parts and tools, not just visual models

Overview

This project encompasses a series of custom parts and tooling components designed using CAD workflows with AI assistance for sketching, constraints, and refinement. Parts were printed, tested, adjusted, and iterated until they fit and functioned reliably.

Types of Parts Designed

  • Covers and shrouds for improved airflow or cable management.
  • Brackets and mounts for hardware stability.
  • Small tooling aids for alignment, spacing, or holding components in place.

Workflow

1. Measure target area and constraints
2. Rough out initial shape and mounting points
3. Use AI to refine dimensions, angles, or features
4. Export and 3D print prototype
5. Test fit, note issues, and adjust model
6. Reprint until fit/function are reliable

Key Learnings

  • Improved sense of real-world tolerances and material behavior.
  • Ability to translate vague requirements into concrete, testable designs.
  • Experience combining AI-supported ideation with precise manual control.
